Types of Glass

The acoustic properties of the window are shaped by the kind of used glass, like thermal insulation. The level of sound attenuation coefficient determines the sound insulation Rw, while thermal insulation Ug. Used in the production of window glass can produce Rw 30-50 dB (the higher the Rw the better the noise suppression).

The desired effect of sound insulation can be achieved in several ways:
- the use of at least one pane of glass with a high weight per unit area
- the use of glass panes with different elasticity (glass glued-safe)
- variation in thickness in the set (eg. 4/6, 8/4, 10 / 6)

Energy efficiency:
- heat-insulating glass units (e.g.4 / 16 / 4.4 / 12/4/12/4) Ug = 0.6-1.1 W / m2K, Rw = 31-35 dB
- two-chamber glazing with high heat-insulating parameters (e.g.4 / 10/4/10/4, 4/16/4/16/4) Ug = 0.4-0.6 W / m2K, Rw = 33-35 dB

Acoustic comfort:
- burglar-proof windows with high acoustic and thermal comfort (e.g.4 / 16 / 44.4, 8/15 / 44.2) Ug = 1.1 W / m2K, Rw = 39-41 dB
- one-chamber sound-absorbing glass (eg. 10 /16/66.2, 44.2 / 20 / 44.2) Ug = 1.1 W / m2K, Rw = 41-51 dB
- acoustic glass two-chamber (e.g., 10/12/4/12/6, 66.1 / 12/6/12 /44.1) Ug = 0.7 W / m2K, Rw = 40-50 dB
